I want to start this thread so that we can discuss software that we are using.
I use the following. You can google any of these to learn more.
1. PokerPad: To play with keyboard and ease the pain on my wrist.
2. PokerTracker: To track my hands and winnings.
3. PokerEV; To check if I am putting in my money with good equity (needs PokerTracker)
4. SNG Wizard: To analyze the effect of push versus fold in bubble situations.
5. RealTime HUD: To display the stats of opponents in real time.

Great post, Krishna! I have a list of tools to look up, but this is a super-set of that list, so now I'm gonna use this :)
SharkScope is good for looking up how bad your opponents are, especially for sit-n-gos.

Thanks for the great info, Krishna. Here's an aggregate of the click-thru URLS for the products you mention:
*PokerPad- Hotkeys for FullTiltPoker
*PokerTracker - Tracks hands and winnings.
*PokerEV - Tracks your "Enterprise Value" (needs PokerTracker)
*SNG Wizard - Analyzes the effect of push versus fold in bubble situations.
*RealTime HUD - Displays the stats of opponents in real time.

Thanks for the links.
If anyone is buying PokerTracker wait until version 3 is released.
I think even if you buy now they will ive you PT3 for free.
But t is better to just wait few days.
I need to upgrade to PT3 this month. I will get some discount but will need to shell out few bucks.

Good to know. I was going to get on that relatively soon. Now I can procrastinate a bit more :)

All the software are essential if you are serious about playing online.
Jason - Poker Tracker 3 is out. It has integrated HUD.
I installed trail version and it looks good.

My first post has some details of the purpose for each software.
The descriptions are very brief so ping me if you need more explanation.

Not very much.
It is used for computing equity against a range of hands.
Useful for analysis after the fact.

I use SScope to figure out which tourneys to enter. It's also good for cash games to just get a general sense as to whether someone might pose a threat or not.
I also manually look up players on Poker-Edge.com to get a feel for their playing tendencies. It's been IMMENSELY helpful. Very often I know how to play a person on the very first hand after they sit down. If Poker-Edge.com says they're a "Maniac", I can generally call their out of position pre-flop raise with more modest hands like ATo and better. A "Maniac" is apt to raise from UTG with hands like JT, J9, K8s, etc. Hugely profitable as a result!
Good luck!

Yeah SharkScope and Poker-Edge are great tools to use. I've checked them out, but don't play online seriously. I definitely recommend both for the reasons Ken just mentioned. If you have RSI problems like me, the keypad tool that Krishna suggested probably helps a lot, too :)
