Small pair on paired board.

    • Congrats on the win. That sounds like a good game. If you think the play is weird at the $10/$20 games, you should try the $1.25 ones :p

    • Alexis,
The 30$ ones even though look promising are full of regulars.
The 10 and 20 ones are also tough but you should improve your skills before moving up.
You should draw conclusions after you achieve enough sample size.
Your break even stretch might be just variance and your true ROI will be seen only after 100 games.
Moving up because you find the plays unconventional is not a good idea.

    • It appears Alexis has the bankroll, the experience, and the skills to play the $30 tables. She regularly plays much higher live games, and appears to play higher games online, too. I think it's important to feel comfortable, and if after lots of games she just finds that it's crazy and weird and barely above break-even, trying the $30 games seems reasonable. I would play a lot of them before a decisive conclusion is drawn about the level of play, but I don't know if the "play enough games and do well before moving up" applies to her situation. Just my thoughts...

    • She probably will do better in 30's.
But my point was not to move up just because some one made wierd plays.
There are players like that in all levels.

I am probably being a nit.
If she has the bankroll and experience she should play at the higher stakes.
I was just thinking about an average player.
Our time is also being invested and it should be worthwhile to spend 1.5 hours.

    • Krishna is correct and Jason is correct.

I stopped playing online for 6 months. I had moved up to the $100 tables and was doing well until I hit a string of "bad luck" and blew my entire bankroll.

Net, net, I had been lucky at $100 and then my real skill level surfaced and my true ROI was revealed.

I just recently started playing online again and played the $1 MTTs, cashing frequently. I moved up to the $10/20 SNGs and never got above break-even. I tried the $30 rooms and, as mentioned, am doing well. I see the same people every time, that is true. Typically 3 each room are familiar. So I also know how they play, which helps a whole bunch.

Anyway, I think that $30 is above my level right now, but I don't think it was above my level before (does that make sense). The more I play, the more I gain experience and book learning, the more times I "regress". This is natural, I think. Kinda like overthinking in golf. I have the ability to be a very good $30 player, I just have too many moving parts with what I want to do with changing my game that I'm actually not there yet.

      Make sense?
