    • Just got home at 9pm on Tuesday. If I haven't called you and you want to talk to me, call me :) I'm a little scatter-brained right now.

BTW, my Omaha captcha is AAQJ!!!

    • anonymous
    • Jay, your mom has a mop of grey and I now an a nervous wreck. What a thrill to follow you as you played and I don't have to tell you how proud of you I have always been. Call when you get back home. Love

    • anonymous
    • Congrats on your 12th place. I was up till the very end gettin updated from Nick... I mean the "face crusher" (that's for you Nick!). Incredible feat, must feel real good. Nice job.

    • anonymous
    • you grab a bit of his skin behind his head on the top of his neck, wiggle/tug a bit to pacify him as you insert the needle...

i havent done it in 3-4 years but its something you dont forget... he takes it like a champ...

i used to be able to just give him the pill and he'd eat it out of my hand, hilarious

    • avatar for Nick L
    • Thanks Johnny for commenting and the updates from the wsop site. When I was on here it was truly exciting, and was a little bit bummed only because he was 2nd in chips and then soon after he had the knockout punch delivered to him.

    • anonymous
    • Hey jason great job... I stayed up for awhile.. but had to get some sleep.. i was updating nick for awhile since his hotel had wsop.com blocked. congrats on 12th man. That is truly impressive

    • anonymous
    • I guess it's better "the cat in the tuxedo" rather than "the cat in the hat".
True, I wouldn't want to stick needles into him either!

Good thing Jay's tight with his money or he might not be back for a few...

    • anonymous
    • I think he prefers it. More mysterious, goes with the tuxedo. Anyway, I hope Jason comes back before long because otherwise I'll have to learn how to stab IV needles into Buddha...maybe Ethan can help and Jason can talk us through it.

    • anonymous
    • Poor Buddha. Calling him "the cat".

    • anonymous
    • The cat only puked TWO times this weekend. Congratulations Jason! Oh, the poker thing is cool too.

    • oh. dear.

    • anonymous
    • Busted

      = [

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • well, if they combine, it would likely be at 10 players. Bay 101 does that, goes down to 9 players when down to 3 tables and then back up to 10 players for the final table, even when they are only paying down to 9.

So, maybe. That would be helpful for a short stack.

    • anonymous
    • GO SCOTTY!!!!!!

    • anonymous
    • Anyone no who is at jasons table

    • avatar for Graham
    • Soooo, anybody checking out that $50k H.O.R.S.E. game, pretty heavy

    • anonymous
    • well it's not going fast enough...

      lol

      = ]

    • avatar for Graham
    • I thought they combined before the final table... I just don't see it anywhere

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • let parkman eat cake

yes. 2 tables until 9 players, I believe. It goes faster that way.

    • avatar for Nick L
    • You would like a dick or something booooo yaaaaaa

    • avatar for Graham
    • Are they still at two tables..?

    • avatar for parkman47
    • i want cake

    • anonymous
    • icing on the cake .....

      that would be soo true....

      you can do this jay....

      stay in it!!

    • avatar for Nick L
    • I just talked to him, "Just try and double up and see what happens is what I said" he has already made us proud and the final table will be the icing on the cake.

    • avatar for parkman47
    • i just got off the phone with him - reminding him that we're all incredibly proud of him, no matter what

    • avatar for Teresa
    • I see.

    • avatar for Teresa
    • he'll be fine. i'm glad there was a break after it happened, so he can sort of get over it. it's almost 6am here haha, I won't be going to bed at all.

of course jc tran is really good

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • JC Tran was never down to 48K, that was a typo. He had 480K at the time.

    • anonymous
    • so i just got off the phone with jason

      he's soundin kind of down....

      but i wished him luck

and told him that he IS going to make it to the final table.......

      he said.....well i'm gonna try...

    • anonymous
    • Read my post earlier

HAHA JC Tran is really good to.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Jason typically plays really well short stacked. However, with the current blinds, he has to get lucky as playing well is not enough when your M is around 5.

He's been running very lucky this whole tournament. I trust it will continue.

I haven't been up this late in a lont, long time. How does anyone stay fresh for such a grueling tournament?

    • anonymous
    • Nick do you have Tuesday night off? TO play dealers call?

P.S. have fun in South Dakota G&J.

    • avatar for Teresa

      Tran Doubles Up

JC Tran made it 55,000 to go preflop and Jason Moungey called. The flop ran and Tran fired 65,000 into the pot. Jason moved all-in for 900,000 and Tran insta-called. Tran showed pocket nines for a flopped set and Mason held . Jason failed to improve and is down to just 240,000 after the hand while Tran is up over 1,000,000.

    • avatar for Pokermom

Jason Moungey continues to build his chip stack. Just now, J.C. Tran raised to 54,000 from the cutoff, and Moungey reraised to 204,000 from the button. Tran let it go.

Tran still has 570,000. Moungey is now up to 1 million.

      this is getting good...

      he is doing sooo good!!

    • anonymous
    • 1.3 milllllll

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • And Jason has a lot of chips.

Parviz Razavian Eliminated in 14th Place ($29,309)
We picked this one up on the flop. With the board showing , Parviz Razavian checked from the small blind, and Robert Kalb bet 160,000 from the big blind. Jason Moungey then pushed all in for 450,000 from the cutoff.

Razavian – whom Moungey had covered – called. Kalb, seeing two players all in, folded, showing Q-Q as he did.

      Razavian
      Moungey

Tough spot for Razavian there. The turn was the and the river the , and Razavian is out in 14th. Moungey is now up to 1.3 million.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Money now at $36,729

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Down to 12. Bubbling.

    • avatar for parkman47
    • Moungey Wins Minor Skirmish

The table folded around to Jason Moungey who completed in the small blind, and Peter Nguyen checked his option in the big blind. The flop came 8 Q 5. Moungey checked, Nguyen bet 50,000, and Moungey called. Both checked the 4 on the turn. The river brought the 6. Moungey bet 90,000, and Nguyen folded. Moungey now has 450,000, and Nguyen 350,000. Both are a bit below the average chip stack at the moment, which is about 580,000 with 14 players remaining.

    • avatar for parkman47
    • buddha still pukes a lot? poor guy

its amazing - every ex girlfriend ive ever had (which is quite an extensive list) always asks about buddha when i mention jason in conversation...

i dont know how many times i cleaned his puke or had to fluid him... i miss that fucker

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Down to 13

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • um. been saying that all day. how do you play online while watching the action live, anyway?

    • avatar for uzjedi
    • At this point it's going to be hard for him NOT to make the final table.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Steve Pierce. Gone. And then there were 14.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Jason has a roommate, yes?

    • avatar for uzjedi
    • He just knocked a guy out. I think he's got about a million chips now

    • avatar for Nick L
    • an 80 k hit doesn't help but it is not the end of the world you can easily make it back asap in 1 pot.

    • avatar for Ethan
    • Jason's roommate, Garret, is on Buddha puke cleaning duty right now.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Costs about $50K each revolution. Short stacks are gonna push with any ace.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Okay, blinds up. Should see the next couple of players bust out soon.

    • anonymous
    • okay this may seem random.....

but who is taking care of buddha?

    • anonymous
    • don't worrry... jason will be in for the big money!!!! he'll move up from 10th

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • $80K is a small pot at this point. Jason probably had to fold a good hand to a push. At this stage, you are very careful of your tournament life.

    • avatar for uzjedi
    • Playing online poker while I sweat him. mwa ha ha

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Blinds going up in less than 10 minutes - $3K/$10K/$20K. Jason just took a hit of $80K to his stack, down to $400K.

    • anonymous
    • not good not good

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • no, 16 players still. JC Tran did not lose a bit pot. They mis-reported his chip stack. imagine that. But, yes, Jason currently 7th.

    • anonymous
    • yeah

so 15 players left jason is 7th??

    • And... Back up.

      Jason Likes the Flop
Jason Moungey led out preflop for 45,000 and was called by Peter Nguyen. The flop ran and Jason fired out 90,000 into the pot. Peter Nguyen folded the hand and Jason is up to 480,000.

    • avatar for parkman47
    • Parviz Doubles Through Moungey

Jason Moungey raised to 45,000 from late position, and it folded to Parviz Razavian who raised all in to 135,000 from the big blind. Moungey made the call. Razavian showed AJ, and Moungey tabled A8. The board came 7 4 10 Q 2, and Razavian doubled up to 290,000. Moungey has 430,000.

    • avatar for uzjedi
    • Sitting a few feet from his table. 16 people left. He just won a medium sized pot. One more person out and they pay jumps another 7k. this is sick. (sick in a good way ;)

JC is fine because he's a great player. Aggressive as hell. Funny. Me and Lyd (sister) sat behind him during the taping of the Shooting Star. Him and Nam Le were in the audience rooting their friend on. Playing Chinese poker. He's obssessed. Smart. What's not to like?

I mean, honestly, if it weren't for chicks that liked smart dudes, where would you be?

      :>

    • avatar for parkman47

    • avatar for Megan
    • Jason has 600K now which is above the average chip count. He's getting into some serious money.

    • One day after a tourney in my (our, w/e) apartment, Jason was telling me he thought we were good but that we were not on that level, not capable of playing against the pros, also because we played with the same group for so long (he was kinda drunk too). I'm glad he's finding out he was wrong and that he's great.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • your brother has already done phenonmenally well and will win the tourney.

down to 18. redrawn to 2 tables. Hope they post who's where.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • M is moving up. good sign. But yellow is best zone for Jason. He plays mid stack really, really, REALLY well. Doesn't get cute. Usually he's done enuf cute things to lull the opposition into thinking he can't do anything but, and then, whammo, he crushes you with the nuts.

Not fun to experience when he crushes you, but I've been watching. And he's gotten better at it lately. He reached his own inflection point and this event is a nice validation of same.

    • avatar for Ethan
    • Jason called in an update (which you can see above):

      • Over 500k in chips
      • 18 people left
      • going to start getting really tough

"J.C. Cajoles Cavazzini J.C. Tran just eliminated Augusto Cavazzini. Holding , Tran flopped eights full of deuces and managed to get the rest of Cavazzini's chips after he had paired his king on the turn. The table applauded the well-liked Cavazzini as he left. Tran is now up over 5 million."

      Um... 2,718 X 3,000 = 8,154,000 chips in play.

Tran has 63% of all the chips now? No way. Jeeeeeeez, these updates are not content rich enuf.

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Looks like he lost one big pot, but he still has far above average chips. This is typical for this part of the tourney. He hasn't risked his tournament life but to win, you have to take some risks. You can't just grind to the final table.

      You need to play. Smart.

Your boy, as you know, is a smart one.

      Go buy your ticket.

    • Considering your several near death experiences during this tourney, Jason, I'm thinking that Lady Luck has a significant crush on you. Work it.

Every tourney I've won was preceeded by rushes such as the one you are experiencing, so I'm convinced of your imminent success and not willing to hedge my comments with any doubt or qualifying remarks.

I look very forward to seeing you at the final table.

      -a

p.s. Knock out JC Tran last. I totally dig that guy.

    • anonymous
    • Lady Luck can be very fickle, but I know in your case a lot of skill is involved. I also know you will make wise choices, if you do win the big one, and I certainly hope you do. Love

    • anonymous
    • Just talked to Jay. He's hyped. So are we!!!

Jay – Adam wants to come to Vegas to see you play the final table, too!

I'll have my cell next to my bed...if I don't get to come to Vegas, I have to go to work at 6:30 am. It's 9:27 pm now. I still have time to pack........

      Go Jason Go!!

    • dont pay 10k to play the big game and definatly dont play the cash game at belagio if thats the big game in referance. if your gunna try to play the main event play 10 satellites instead of paying the 10k entry fee save most your winnings for bankroll unless you make top 3 then buy a house while the market is cheap and shit if you can squeak it in buy multiple that way you have long term investments plus you could rent them out and have the mortgage paid for and suplement your bank roll that way. if you want to become a pro which im sure you do spend 6 months playing local tournies the 300-1500 buy in ones make your coming out party for big tourney when shooting star comes back to town but until then youll be able to pick up more expierience playing lower stakes tournies and you can flirt with the 5-200 spread limit games and ill take you to HAYWARD "THE PALACE" so you can play a true NL holdem cash game where some of the players sit with 20k in front of them its the best NL game in the bay area BAR NONE first thing is first crack the top 3 while we all watch in AWE

    • avatar for Graham
    • Haha, I only meant relaxed as in neither nervous nor tense. You know, relaxed like he was playing at someone's kitchen table... Killer instinct still applies and Jason seems to have that covered =)

    • avatar for Pokermom
    • Megan: Catch the next flight to Vegas. You have to be there for Jason's final table. He will make the final table. No doubt in my mind. You don't want to miss it. He's on dinner break right now. Work it out. You will regret it for a long time if you don't go.

Jason: You are now a professional poker player. At least 2/3 of your winnings should be your bankroll. Take a quick trip home to catch up on work after you win this one and then get your arse back to Vegas to play the big game.

Now, let me tell you how I really feel...

    • Megan, are you in Vegas now?

    • avatar for Megan
    • Jason now has 260K
Andy Block is on Jasons left with a substantial stack and making Jasons life hard. So he's being conservative. He's gotten sucked out on a couple of times when low chip stacks go all in and he's had the better hand.

He made a killer play against the chip leader with 10h and 8h when he was on the botton. The chip leader makes a normal raise and Jason calls the cards come 10d 6c 4c. The guy raises and Jason re-raised 2 1/2 times his opponents raise. The guy calls and the turn is 2d. The guy bets the same amount he ended up raising for (30K). Jason smooth calls. The river is 6h. The guy goes all in and Jason asks "how much?" The guys hand starts shacking so Jason calls. The guy had Jc-7c and so Jason doubles up.

      Nice work Jason!

    • the chip counts are not right, I think, since they've shown Jason at a stagnant 150K since down to 108. If you look at Jason's post via Ethan above, he doubled up to 300K, so I think he's not 17th at all, but higher.

    • Really like the look, Jason. Kinda reminds me of Dario Minieri. I bet you'll get plenty of TV time!

Good luck, man. You too, Aces.

    • Thanks, dawgs. I'm getting ready to leave now. Gotta skim Harringon's section on M of 12 :)

    • Wow! Excellent work, J! Not only did you survive, you're working from a good position. The money pressure is off.

Now, learn from day 1. Set a new goal. Relax and focus. Go out there and do it like you know you can.

PS Captcha hand: AAJQ... strong, one-way hand =)

    • Awesome! Cash hard, both of you!

    • Jason is about 58th out of the 215 players left, and out of 2,718 players in total and has 49,500 chips, which means he's currently in the top 2% of the field. Chip counts.

I don't know Adrian's last name, but there is only one Adrian listed (Ridner) and he has 17,100 chips to start Day Two.

When you consider the enormity of the number of entrants and the tournament structure, you cannot help but be very, very impressed with both of these boys.

You should be proud, mom, as I'm sure you are.

Looking forward to seeing both of you at the final table. Question is, whose gonna knock out JC Tran?
