    Poker Players: CTFO

Wow. An argument at a 1-2 NL table in Atlantic City proves fatal. The cause? Dude busts out, goes to get some more cash, and has his seat taken. He gets in to a fight with the guy who took his seat, and is subsequently stabbed to death by the seat-taker:

When Prince returned to find his seat occupied by Perez an argument ensued, but the floor, according to reports, ruled in favor of Perez keeping the seat. (An NBC Philadelphia report has the roles of the players reversed, contrary to most other reports.) Prince, according to one report, was offered another seat at that same table, but insisted on the exact seat which was at that moment occupied by Perez. This led to more arguments, with both players, according to one 2+2 poster, escalating the situation. At some point, Perez got up from his seat to take a break outside, which is where the argument escalated into violence.

Advice to poker players everywhere: Chill The Fuck Out or you'll get stabbed. Either one of these guys could have stood down and nothing would have happened.

No one is helping the image of a game we all want to see expand by getting super pissed, especially about something trivial.

    • Nice magic reference Graham loved it, on the whole people go "aggro" on nothing I got a laugh out of that. Nice call Jason on that situation seems ridelicous on how that guy acted. As for the whole Atlantic City thing seems like the dumbest thing I have heard at a table. Seems stubid to die over a seat and he could of taken another seat at that table wow people are amazing.

    • Man. Some people's children. Life is more important than pride.

    • Alexis - oh man, that is terrible. Wow.

BTW, Graham, yeah, they are all Omaha. We are thinking about making them actual cards :)

    • I think another point is that you never know who you are playing with at a casino. I love poker, oh man do I, but it does attract an element that is a bit unsavory. How many times am I at a table while guys (and gals!) are discussing JAIL TIME. I kid you not. Never give out your 411, be nice and make sure no one is following you home from the casino to case your house afterwards.

A guy got killed after leaving Garden City Casino at 4am about a week ago. GC employees insist it was a random event and not connected with play - he'd been playing at GC for thirty years and was said to be a nice guy and still had $80 in his pocket when they found him (dead).

Yeah. Be cool and watch your back.

And the cool award goes to Jason. I was at the game. Jason was cool. It could have been pretty ugly and violent and it wasn't. Enuf sed.

    • The only way this is acceptable is if the murder weapon was a ballpoint pen a la Casino. Seriously, though, I'm not that surprised. People get way too aggro over stupid shit. Sounds like they were both given chances to be the bigger man and just walk away, but just refused. Senseless.

(K443 not a good omaha hand. Though it seems like all of the captcha images are now omaha hands, which makes me happy =)

    • On a side note - you do a great job of managing chips, etc.
Managing the side pots, antes etc is not easy.

On omaha tables the players help the dealers a lot because each side pot can get split different way.
They even help with deciding how many highs and how many los.
Many times the dealer fails to see the correct winning hands.

    • I was put into a similar situation just recently. A guy went nuts in a home game after I started counting down the stacks in a 3-way all in to make sure the pot was right. He stood up, started swearing and getting into my face, trying to get me to fight him or something. Most people thought he was joking at first because it was so over the top. I just sat there and told him we was being ridiculous and he finally cooled down. The host promptly kicked his ass out and he won't be playing with us again :) I could see how things like that could easily escalate. I always watch my back when I leave the casino.

    • Yeah, I read about this on forums.
      Just crazy!

      Casinos are full of jerks.
For me it is just a game.
