   • James tipped me off to what seems to be a good WSOP freeroll. If you can place in the top 50 of one satellite tournament and then get top 3 in the next round, you get a seat at the 2008 WSOP, hotel accommodations, and $2500 spending money.

   • I just played in this. The blinds go up pretty quickly, so it's necessary to make some moves. I flopped a flush and took somebody out. Then I bled away...

     I calculated just for fun - if I have all the details right and my estimations are correct, you have about a 1 in 20k chance of winning a WSOP seat each week, all things (like skill) being equal. That's not so bad. Crazy, but not so bad for free and most likely not much time investment.

   • Jason, PokerStars GUI on the MAC is actually pretty cool. Lot nicer than on the PC. I play with either/or.

   • Hey, thanks for the tip, man. I keep forgetting I should download that - I'm so used to Mac's not having any online poker support (and I'm not used to using my Mac all the time quite yet, either).

     Have you managed to make the top 50 yet?

   • I have played in this thing as well got in the top 1,500 lol but I will try again next week. My computer should not be holding other poker sites I don't want to jam the space on it or create to much spam email.

   • Hey Nick, unless your computer is ancient, you should be able to install 10 online poker site pieces of software and not even worry about it. As for the "spam" email, if you stick with the major providers (FullTilt, PokerStars, etc.) you don't need to worry about them selling your contact information out to spammers, and you should even be able to opt out of any of their normal emails (although I don't mind getting the articles and announcements they send).

     Let me know when you are going to play again. Maybe we can play at the same time and randomly get at the same table :p

   • I just watched Nick play this, and he was so close! 5000 people... wow. The times I've played it's only been around 2000 people. My guess is the later in the week, the less people - everybody needs their fix right away! :p

     Nick pushed his 23k in with on the button or cut-off when it was folded to him and the blinds were 1500/3000 with 300 antes. The small blind (with 50k) woke up with and turned an ace against Nick's flopped jacks. Ouch!
