I'm looking for some bay-area large-ish tournaments to hit about once a month. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I used to go to the Lucky Chances Sunday morning tournament, but I swear it was a bit cheaper than $225 back when I went. I was hoping to squeak in for $150 at the most.
What else is out there?

Try Garden City in Saratoga (San Jose). It think the weekend tourney's start at 8:45am and are $80 w/ rebuys ($60 I think). I hear the field is 100+. If you want to go, let me know. I think the my flu bug is on the decline.
btw, I'm pretty sure Bay101 has weekend tourneys too.

Craig, I ended up not going - sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Thanks for the info on that place. I will have to check it out some time in the future. It seems like Bay 101 only has WPT Shooting Star qualifier tournaments, which George said are pretty crazy with rebuys and all that. I'll let you know if I want to get to Garden City one of these times.
I did end up playing at the Ocean View card room in Santa Cruz on Saturday while visiting Megan. I got 4th out of 42, so that helped my itch for a bigger tourney. I might think about Garden City for this Sunday... Let's talk later in the week.

this Sunday might be tricky for me. between Cinequest and the $100K poker stars tourney (which I'll hopefully qualify for), it will be tricky to squeeze in a trip to garden city. check with me on Saturday.

Hmmm. I might have to check out that Cinequest. I like film festivals and had no idea it was going on. How do you qualify for that mega PokerStars tourney? I don't play on that site, but maybe I should... Seems cool. I'll check in with you on Saturday via email - if you don't hear from me and want to go, send me an email or I guess post a new thread in the forum, maybe others will want to go.

Cool. If I ever get on that kind of a sleep schedule, I'll check it out. Unlikely, though. I have a very accommodating work schedule, but not that accommodating!
