   • I'm pretty sure that board is pretty safe not to 3-bet the flop, and going all in on the turn seems good, too. A very similar situation happened to my friend at the casino the other night. He had trip nines and was called down by a gut-shot KQ (no flush draw). Gotta love the river...

   • Ouch! I've run into similar situations online and/or at Lucky Chances.

     The biggest mistake I can think of is that you played Poker against some maniac non-poker playing gambler who obviously has no regard for math. Perhaps you overestimated the guys poker skills.

     Maybe you could have kept the pot size smaller going into the river ... I don't know. But then again, if the other guy had pocket Jacks or nines, you wouldn't be talking about it, though.

     In a long run, you will make tons of money against this guy who seems to lives on a 'high risk - big return' business model.

   • Sounds like you made the right decision and just happened to get the unfavorable result.
     If you wouldn't have played any differently looking back, then it's a good thing.
     Bad beats are hard to forget, but we've all been on the other end from time to time which we forget more easily.
     It all evens out in the end.

   • ok well only other line you could of taken that wouldnt of had you someone think of commiting you to the WARD would be to push all in pre flop but the only hand you could hope he has that he will call you with on tat board is J9 but given the insder information youve given even that isnt plausible. So knowing your extremly ahead here you have to flat call the raise on the flop and even with that turn if he shows you his hand your still gunna put him in for his whole stack with 1 card to come. the object of ring games after all is to play accordingly for stacks or else you wouldnt of sat with max buy in here. he was just trying to make a play that in position against a tight player is actually not a bad idea with the back door draw given that there are 40% of your hands youd make the raise with pre flop that you would of had to fold to the re raise there against that player. his biggest mistake which is the one i ussually capitalize against online is his disregard for position. if he does that in position he at the least will buy a free card 85% of the time and with the extra outs with the back door draw and overs its ocasionally a good play. BOTTOM LINE YOU GOT NUBBED its just a good thing he wasnt able to stack you.
