    • lol ok i was just curious becasue i didnt see you try any steals or anything but it does make sense since 7 of the players were playing pretty tight

    • yeah on that 10's hand you know the guy utg raised first? Then I flat called, and the 2 shoves came from the blinds ak and kk. It sucks cause i made a good read vs same utg earlier when he raised I had 99 but only 85g and woulda been 15 to call I folded due to the fold or shove situation, and someone shoved with ak and utg showed jj. Of course a nine came:) I can't steal if everyone is raising in front of me:) I could resteal but I was in some bad positions with big stacks behind me. When you steal in these tournies with 15 bb you better be prepared to be pot commited so its kinda tough :)

    • so what did i make? 8 bucks? lol

    • well 5 percent of 89 dollars (what I made) is 4 something right? and you got Jason share too so i dunno lol I figured what the hell, the 11 buy in is on me guys(you too Kyle) Consider it my thank you for listening to my dribble on Pokersoup gift:)

    • yeah your right unfortuantly in these structured tournies after you crack the money bubble during the next few rounds you either have to be extremly aggresive or be fortunate enough to bick up big hands i vary which approach i take based on how big my online bankroll is at the time.

    • yeah, I mean I was aggressive in spots where I felt I could pick up pots. I got lucky 3-4 times in this tourny due to tryin to pick up pots vs certain blinds and having the button wake up with a hand. Takes a huge amount of luck and the right tables to win this thing. 35000 people lol carazy

    • yeah im stuck pondering the what if LOL because i love these huge online tournies since i got my start in the online world playing the 12k freerolls on pokerstarz and the other huge field freerolls on other sites. for the same reason tha ti love them with the dead money it hurts so much more because generally when i bust out its in a spot where im atleast a 65% favorite but more likly 20% with pair over pair and some big stack donkey that is the worse player left in the tourney knocks me out becuase he has chips and wants to call everyone that raises him. good showing though and hopefully i make it out to redwood to play with you guys if im back in town in time from sac

    • i also seemed to tighten up in the end. too much? i don't know. i put my stats on my blog post. i maybe should have called some all ins, but i hate calling. i love shoving :) there were a few people in front of me who loved shoving as much as i do, so it was tough to find spots. oh well! it was a good time.

we should do another mega tourney like this with a bit of a share. it was a lot of fun. thanks for the buy-in tony :) i'll get you back somehow, sometime... what's your favorite liquor?

we owe a bit to parag then? i can do the math later. i need to finish up and get to bed. just got back from "the spirit". if you like the filmography style of "sin city" i suggest you see "the spirit" asap.

    • at the lower 2 and 3 dollar buy in on starz there is always between 1 and 3k participants on a regular basis

    • I dont think your tightening up, I think it just feels that way due to most of the time you are gonna have this weird mid stack situaton where shoving and folding is almost neutral ev. Thats why these online tournies are funny to me cause there is no play after the middle stages of these things if your gonna play correctly. Every decision is a fold or shove ordeal lol. The skill is winning the flips and knowing what blinds you can steal from and whos shoves you should reshove on etc. You can kiss all the daniel Negreanu small ball crap goodbye in these things. I might be biased of course being mostly a cash game player but I just hate having to make the damn call with q9 for all my chips when i have an m of 6 in the big blind getting 2 to 1 and the guy on the button is a shoving/stealing tard who never has a big pocket pair there and just the possibility he has worse than me makes it a plus ev call. Thats the guy I take to town in the cash game cause A. I can repop him with any 2 cause we are usually 100 bb plus deep or B. I can just pick a good spot to trap him. There are just more options, more "poker" if you will. Ok anyway thats enough of my rant lol

    • lol i dont like the theory of having to re shove do to your M i mean its good to have an idea but nothing is ever that simple as to say i have to shove with all the other factors involved in the games i guess you can call me a hellmueth theoriser or how ever youd spell it but some of his philosophies in tourney poker i like if you are better than your opponet that is if not then play accordingly now if your not as good or your both the same then shove and see what happens LOL

    • i think you're right there, t. i played a lot less hands because it was either fold or shove. kyle, i like your point about not necessarily having to shove/fold based solely on pot odds if you are a better player. you can still be smart/conservative in the plays you make, as t suggested when he said the "tard" steals too much. however, at some point the blinds and odds are overwhelming and you just have to do it :p

    • Im with u Kyle. When I mention M it usually is when it is just way to low and you have to call a shove or shove yourself based on the player, players your up against. Like I said earlier. I have no problem laying down 99 with 6-10 bbs if I am almost certain the raiser has me crushed, and I have no problem calling with q9 to a button raiser if I think he has a huge range, the pot odds are there, and I am just getting way too low ie an m of 6 or whatever. I mean if I had just a few more chips I woulda folded but at some point you have to take the odds or else your gonna need 2 double ups just to get a decent stack. I feel like for the most part I have a good mix of math and feel. My problem I think, like you said is i could probably be a little more aggressive in the late stages. That being said Im just not a huge donkament guy. I think online I am close to break even in tournies despite going deep in a fair amount of them. I feel like the luck factor at the end of these things ie 99 vs ak, just creates this huge variance, and I don't really play enough of them to see if I am playing correctly or not. Good discussion guys me likes!

    • the 99 vs AK definatly does come around too frequently which is why if your playing alot of tournies esspesially online its sometimes good to gamble early instead of having to gamble later becasue you can just sighn up for another tourney in 10 mins. because gambling early allows you to play big stack while all the conservative players become mid stacks and average stacks thus not allowing them to call and forcing them with the negranue bet of 2.5x to either push or fold
