    • Anyone playing WSOP this year?

      There are so many events!
I want to play the low buyin events but I may have only 1 or max 2 buyins

What is the general opinion on structure?
Do they allow normal play (40BB-200BB) or do they turn into shove fests?
What events are good for a recreational player like me?

Anybody played mixed games in WSOP (Stud8, Omaha eight)?
If I play them, will I run into all pros?

    • This is what they are calling "the year of the value". All tournies will start with triple the buy in in chips. Usuallly this means they just speed up the structure, but they are actally adding levels in as the 1500 events are now 3 day instead of 2 day. If your gonna play, this is definatly the year to do it. You will see most pros in almost all the events as they are going for the bracelet, so even a 1500 event score can make them a ton of money since every bracelet won can equate to more endorsements, fame etc. I plan on playing just the 1500 on June 16th. Not much for dropping money on donkaments.

    • Great questions, great answers. Adrian and I are playing in the 3-day Saturday 06/27 NL Hold'em (Event 51) for $1,500 as well as the 3-day Monday 06/29 NL Hold'em (Event 54) for $1,500. The Venetian Deep Stack events overlap this date range, also.

I thought I posted this somewhere, but I can't find it, so I'm sorry if it's a duplicate post:

Wow, I didn't realize the stacks would be tripled (4500), but events #51 and #54 are :) That's awesome! The first NL event (#4) only starts with 3000, so I was under the impression it was just doubled. Wow, I'm extra excited now!

Last year, starting with only 1500 in chips, in the middle of day one, lots of people were getting short and shoving. I was forced to call other's all ins with ATo since I had them covered handily at that point (after my KK all in survived against the chip leader with AA)! It tightened up near the money bubble, and then went back into a shove-fest. During day 2 it seemed that the stacks consolidated and there were many, many, hours of tight aggressive poker awesomeness. My M went down to around 18 at the worst of it after day 1, and I was not playing many pots, aside from my beautiful pocket tens :D

Good luck to those that play!
