Card Room Review: "California Grand (Pacheco)"

    • I mistakenly referred to this card room as "The Palace" in a response to Darren's thread oops...in it he asked about cash game structures at local card rooms...

This made me think that we could add our own information, experiences and opinions of our sessions at local card rooms or any card rooms for that matter.

      Anyway here's my first entry:

I played the 1/2 NL $100 min game at the California Grand (near Concord) last year. It's a small room only about 8 tables.

I took 5 racks off a couple of players in about and hour and half because they were gambling maniacs. Most of the players at my table seemed to be decent players but there were two or three who were just too happy re-load every 4-8 hands they played. It was the "starter" table that fed the bigger NL game. I had 2 hours to kill before I went to a movie in Walnut Creek so I did a bit of a "hit and run" that afternoon.

Started at 4:30pm with $100 and left at 6:00pm with $650. A good session. Was seriously thinking about staying as the money was coming so easy but it was my first real successful session in a real card room and I was feeling good.

    • Nice review T! I read it in both threads a while ago. Thought I would thank you for your efforts now that I have a chance.

    • yeah, i played there once and it seemed like a fairly easy NL game. people were definitely taking chances, if you play tight you can clean up.
plus first time you go they have a coupon where they give you free money! $50 for $30.

    • I don't get up there much, but I will definitely check it out. Thanks, dude! We need a place on PokerSoup for reviews of live game places... Then I don't have to remember this stuff!
