Hey Guys,
Sitting here in Vegas, just thought I would document the main hands I played in this one. Start with 4,500 chips.
My best played hand came in Level 1 (25-50). I was dealt in an early position, and raised to 200, called 2 seats to my left. Flop was . I bet 500 and was called. Next card was . I bet 800 and was re-raised all in by the larger stack (he hit a big FH earlier to bust someone else out). I decided to call, and he turned over . River was , and I raked the pot, and was feeling pretty damn good.
Next major hand took place in Level 2 (50-100). Table folded to me in middle position and I raised to 300 with 33. Same person two positions to my left on the button raised, making it 800 to go. Blinds folded, and I called. Flop came AJ4. I bet 800, and he raised with the rest of his chips, making it another 625 to me, which I called. He showed AQ. 2 came on the turn, but no 3 or 5 on the river, so I lost that one.
After being moved to another table on my first hand I was dealt AK off with blinds at 75-150. The player before me raised to 400, I called and no other callers. Flop was a miss for me, low cards and rainbow. He bet 1200 with a bigger stack, and I folded.
Later I was dealt AA on small blind. Action folded to the same player before me, who limped. I raised additional 400 to 475, and was called by the big blind and the limper. Flop was K56 rainbow. I checked as did the others. Another K on the turn, still rainbow. Checked all around again. River was a Ten. I bet 500 and the others folded.
I figure at this point I have an average chip stack at best, and was dealt . I raised to 400 preflop in early position and get one caller. Flop was . I bet 800, and was called. Turn was . I bet 1200, and he raised, making it 4100 to go. If I call this, I would be left with about 1500, and if I fold, I am under the starting amount. Does this feel like a 2pair or trips bet to anyone? I was debating with myself if the A would win the hand if I did not hit my flush. I decided to call, and the river was a total miss . I checked and folded on his bet. Anyway, you all can feel free to tell me what I donk I am for making this call!
Down to 1100, I went all in with KJ and was called by AK and eliminated. At least the weather here is nice, toasty but not roasting hot! Gonna have a few drinks tonight!

Well, I think it is really cool that you got to play at the WSOP at all. I am extremely jealous. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Good luck.

Hey Tim, thanks for posting. Nice call with the queens! Here are my opinions on the hand:
First, assuming it's a full ring (8-10 players) I wouldn't raise with much at all, and especially not in early position. Unless my M was low and I was going all in or maybe to resteal from a position raise. However, maybe you saw a twinkle in somebody's eye or were playing super-tight, so no big deal :)
Were the blinds still 75/150? If so, I like 400. If they were 100/200, not so much.
Was your opponent in position? Either way, I think I like the continuation bet (but I'd like it more if he had checked to you first). I think I'd shut down after he called the flop and you missed your flush. You still have plenty of chips if you check fold, and you could even check-raise all in if you really wanted to.
As for the call, there is 4800 in the pot and you need to call 2900 more. He has chips behind to bet on the river so you don't get to see a showdown. I'd probably fold there, but that kinda sucks. :( It's close, but leaving yourself with a small amount of chips is no fun.
Ugh... I think if you wanted to try and hit the flush there, you have to play it more aggressively (check-raise on the turn). I don't know :(
That's awesome you got to play, though. Are you back already?

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the feedback. I just got home last night. In fact, I was a bit aggressive in the online tourney last night since I had a 9:30pm flight to catch. I was either trying to get others out, or if I went out in the process, oh well. :)
Regarding the , first, the blinds were still at 75-150. Except for the player to my right, who had just folded before me, the table seemed to be playing tight which is why I raised pre-flop. When my 800 continuation bet was called, I knew I was starting to wade in deeper waters, and when the turn blanked for me, my thought process was that if I checked I was probably not going to see the river. I'm pretty certain I was not going to check raise all in, and I did not want to give the green light for my opponent to take the pot with an aggressive bet. So I tried to figure out how much I could bet without getting re-raised, which obviously did not work!
Interesting as I reviewed the tournament results, Jesus Ferguson was eliminated from the tournament in a very similar fashion to me, so that made me feel not so bad about my play. Here is the link, and his timestamp is 15:13:31, also level 3.

Interesting, thanks for the link. It was cool to see how Hellmuth and JC Tran (hah!) went out. I don't have time to look at that stuff much, but if somebody points something out, I'll check it ;)
I guess Ferguson would have said you should have shipped it in. Obviously, he didn't want to play for his whole stack, but he felt obligated because of the pot odds. In that case, I think the blocking bet disguised as a double-barrel continuation bet disguised as a value bet seems good. But I guess you should have decided if you got raised (essentially) all in, you would commit. I don't know. :/
