I'm saving up for the main event! Hahaha a lot of people have told me to play satellites instead but I'll probably have around $12,000 for the whole trip so I don't think I want to take that risk (plus, I'm too tight for satellites). I'm 80% sure at this point that I'll be there. If I can't make it because of work schedule then I'll play some other event. What about you guys? Any plans?
Before you plunk down 10 gerr for the Main Event, perhaps you should play in a smaller buy in event {$1000 or $1500}. This has nothing to do with your skill or ability. It has everything to do with value. Simply-- the Main Event is a waste of money and a crusher of dreams... I can think of many ways to use $10k.... the Main Event aint on that list.... Gordo.... out.
i gotta agree with the gordster. i'd much rather play 2 $5000, or 3 $3000, or 6 $1500 events. and throw in a couple $1000 main event satellites for fun. however, it just might be worth $10k to play in it just once... maybe.
If you can afford it I'd say why not. I will say it gonna hurt if in like level 3 you pick up aa vs kk get it in preflop and a king comes. 10g is a lot of dough to drop on what pretty much amounts to the lottery. Why not bring 12-13k and try a Sat or 2? Might be able to get in for cheap. I know the feeling I struggle with this every year. It is the ultimate event in a game you love. I could get in for "free" every year with the rakeback I generate but in the end I always choose the cash. Getting harder and harder every year to choose the cash though.
