Looks like the bay area isn't the only place where the cops have too much time on their hands. Sound familiar?
In all, more than $6,150 in cash was seized and three people were identified as organizers. Those three have not been arrested but are expected to face possible felony charges, Bowler said.
"We"re getting all our case facts together to give to the District Attorney"s Office," he said.
Bowler said he"s not sure who was benefiting from the illegal card game, but added, "I can only assume 24-Hour Club members are because they are the ones holding the tournament at their club."
What's the 24-hour club? A hang out for recovering alcoholics. Way to go, serve and protect! More proof that the purpose of authority is to preserve authority.

"It was clear they were playing a Texas Hold "em tournament or some poker tournament," Lt. David Bowler said.
LOL, I guess it wasn't that clear, then, was it?
Read the whole story and you will see that it is actually completely illegal to have tournaments, unless you pay $5 per head for a license. Additionally, each player can only wager $100 in a 24-hour period. That means you could have $50+$5 games, but probably still not charge a "host" fee. I don't know for sure. Anyway, it seems like Maine's laws are more strict than CA – to the point of disallowing a tournament with more than a $1000 prize pool even if the tournament organizers aren't raking. Wow.
Stephen King lives in Bangor, Maine.

Sigh...I wish I could decide exactly where my tax money went...so it would never go to something like this. That kind of system would never work of course, but I can wish.

Seems dumb just the whole raiding a poker game idea looks like I would never want to live in Maine ever in my life what a shitty law.
