   • My favorite gambling movies aren't really gambling movies, they're heist movies. Since I'm such a sucker for Steven Soderbergh, I'm going with the "Ocean" series, especially the first and last. What are your favorites? Discuss.

     Blockbuster Online recently delivered "Lucky You" to me, but I haven't watched it. It's supposed to be pretty lame, but the "poker is good". We'll see...

   • I was just looking around for some possible poker movie winners, and found this link.

     The link has descriptions, but here are the ones they recommend:

     1. Rounders
     2. Maverick
     3. The Cincinatti Kid
     4. Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
     5. Honeymoon in Vegas
     6. A Big Hand for a Little Lady

     I've only seen Rounders and LS&2 Smoking Barrels, so I'm gonna put the others on my online movie queue.

   • Rounders the 1 and only movie nothing can beat that although I should see the Stu Unger story. Maverick is not good and I hear Lucky You is awful.

   • We just watched "Lucky You" last night. It wasn't as bad as I expected, but it wasn't great. Doyle Brunson was the poker consultant for the movie, so the poker seemed good enough to me. Good actors, a few cameos from pros and a few more random shots of pros, so it was fun enough to watch. The underlying story was a bit corny, but whatever. I would say it's worth watching at some point, but don't go out of your way to make it happen immediately.

   • How 'bout a few that no one mentioned yet. The Cooler, haven't seen it, but heard it's good. Shade, that one's pretty good. The card tricks are the nuts and Sly is the man, right? What about that series that was on for a bit? I don't watch TV, but I caught an episode or two and it was OK. How 'bout the original Ocean's Eleven? Straight up old school with the Rat Pack. And speaking of gambling, how 'bout No Country For Old Men? What's the most you've ever lost to a coin flip?!

    • I agree with you, friend-o. Good picks. "That one TV show" may be tilt - it's got our favorite brother in it (Budd from Kill Bill). I watched the season on DVD and was pleased enough. Some cool chip tricks and interesting takes on running a scam on a casino game/tourney.

    • The Cooler is one of my all time favorite movies, but not for the poker playing. William Macy is awesome and the movie is quirky as hell. Just like I like them.

      I want to see "21" about the MIT Blackjack team. That looks pretty freaking cool. In theatres March 28. Can't wait.

    • Yes, good call on "21". Of course, the trailers portray a bit different than the book told it. I don't recall anybody getting beat up in Vegas - just the Bahamas or whatever. But, hey, you have to take some liberty when you're trying to make a blockbuster. It looks likes a good movie either way. Thanks for the reminder, and congrats on figuring out the wiki lol :p

      I'm embarrassed to say that I've never seen "Rounders" (well except for the one classic scene when Malkovich cleans Matt Damon's clock...)
